Let Go of Sugar Cravings
Do you feel addicted to sugar and processed carbs – you know, cookies, cake, pies, donuts, crackers, pretzels, pasta? You just can’t resist them? You have lots of company. There really is a reason why you can’t resist them – and, it’s not all your fault.
Most people have no idea how much sugar they eat in a day or the damage it is doing to their body and their health. Did you know that you can ditch those cravings by reducing the amount of sugar and processed carbs you eat? Your body will thank you!
I was a ‘carb-o-holic’ for decades and couldn’t resist my favorite forms: pasta and bread, among others. A few years ago I realized that it was those beloved processed carbs that were making me feel so tired and brain foggy and, actually, ill. So, I gave sugar the boot and I started feeling better.
If you struggle with sugar cravings, I invite you to download this free Infographic on what causes sugar cravings and what to do about them. I promise, it’s a quick read!
Who chooses the foods you eat?
You might think, 'Well, of course, I do'. But, that might not be true. Really? Yes, really! There may be some very tiny little critters pushing you to head for the kitchen for your favorite sweet treat in the evenings or make you run to the store at 10 p.m. for ice cream.

Ditch the Junk testimonial:
I wanted to write my testimony about how "Ditch the Junk" has helped me beyond the challenge. First, I will tell you a little bit about myself. I have been living with Multiple Sclerosis for 20 years. I have been in the gym regularly for 4 1/2 years. My weight and body fat fluctuate. I was watching my body fat go up, up, up. I only weighed 124 pounds, but I could not stop this upward trend. I am already gluten-free to keep my inflammation down, but I knew I had to make some additional changes. I have stopped eating processed foods. I eat meat, vegetables, nuts, and fruit. I am trying to make this my new life style. I have continued this since the Ditch the Junk Challenge. I couldn’t be happier! My body fat is down 10 pounds. My muscle mass is up over a pound. I never gain muscle, especially on my left side which has been slightly affected by MS. I have also gained muscle on my left side!! The best part in all of this is that I am feeling well, walking better, and my inflammation markers are down. Inflammation is what kills me with MS. Inflammation causes my body to attack itself. So, I am here to say that if you want to make some real changes in your life with how you look and feel, DITCH THE JUNK!! It changes everything!

Do you crave sugar?
With the way most Americans eat, there is a good chance you are addicted to sugar and may not even know it. Folks who are addicted to sugar (and starchy/flour products) often complain of belly fat, brain fog, feeling burned out (no energy), and blood sugar imbalances (even if you have not been aware of these imbalances). You may just recognize that you have trouble resisting sugary treats.
In our efforts to get healthier, we may not realize how even slight blood sugar increases can be sabotaging our efforts. It is critically important to maintain blood sugar and insulin levels within an optimal range. Blood sugar imbalances account for many of the health issues we struggle with: accelerated aging, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, Types I and II Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia and other neurological conditions, changes in the eyes, possibly leading to blindness.

You might think, 'Well, of course, I do'. But, that might not be true. Really? Yes, really! There may be some very tiny little critters pushing you to head for the kitchen for your favorite sweet treat in the evenings or make you run to the store at 10 p.m. for ice cream. There are sugar-loving bacteria that live in your gut. The more sugar and processed starch you feed them, the more they grow and demand more. They send messages to your brain to go search for sugar.
